Description
In this issue of Every Child, we asked ministers and leaders in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector to voice their gratitude to Australia’s educators and teachers. Over four pages, they acknowledge the hardship the COVID-19 pandemic placed on the sector and how grateful they are for the hard work and dedication shown by many to adjust to the crisis.
Be You presents a detailed article about taking care of yourself and others during the pandemic, and how to understand stress and the window of tolerance. An article by Queensland University of Technology Senior Lecturer Judith Howard provides advice on how to help young children understand the pandemic and its impacts; and Early Child Australia details its advocacy during this challenging year.
Other articles include the thinking behind designing learning environments, how to inspire children’s original ideas to grow, and how children make friends in culturally and linguistically diverse settings.
You will also find Every Child’s regular sections, such as book reviews and what’s happening? Plus, we profile one of Early Childhood Australia’s Publications Advisory Committee members, Dr Wendy Boyd, who says early childhood educators are critical to the nation.
We hope from this issue that everyone working in the ECEC sector will feel acknowledged and valued for the great work they do for Australia’s children.
