This learning resource aims to enhance the knowledge and confidence of educators in managing their family day care business. It has been developed as a result of feedback Family Day Care Australia has received from educators that managing the business side of their family day care can be a little challenging at times, especially when they are first starting out.

The vast majority of family day care educators are engaged by services as independent contractors rather than employees, which means they are effectively self-employed. This resource is designed primarily with these educators in mind.

To allow you to explore each learning concept in detail, this course is split into two parts.

Part 1 will explore how to get started in family day care, some business basics and how to promote and market your business.

Part 2 will explore how to manage your money, simple business administration strategies and how to build key relationships with stakeholders.

This course is suitable for family day care educators at all stages of their career as well as educators who may be thinking of setting up a family day care business. The course may also be of interest to family day care services in conducting orientation courses for new educators.
