In early childhood education, it is important to create awareness and educate the children about their impact on the environment. Educators can incorporate environmental education into daily routines and practices; through this the children may grow an appreciation for their natural environment providing a platform for ongoing and new learning. Reduce, reuse and recycle are three easy ways we can cut down on our waste. Educators can promote these concepts through play and the children can then apply their new knowledge into their everyday lives.
This book provides educators with creative ways to promote the concepts of sustainability within their learning environment. The book is categorised into seven chapters: Cardboard, Glass, Paper, Plastic, Fabric, Rubber and Metal. Each chapter contains a total of eight learning experiences, two of which have been provided with possible links to the five EYLF learning outcomes.
