About the Authors:
Margaret Sims is a professor of Early Childhood at the University of New England. She has worked in New Zealand in a variety of community-based agencies and developed one of the earliest inclusion programmes for children with additional needs. She was involved with the planning and implementation of a pilot family support programme. She has research interests in child care and family support, the development of integrated early childhood services and the workforce development in such services; and the biochemistry of parenting/caring.
Teresa Hutchins is currently a regional programme coordinator with World Vision Australia and is responsible for managing the Warlpiri Early Childhood Care and Development project in the Central Desert Region of Australia. She has taught at Cowan University and was Senior Lecturer in Child Care at Central Metropolitan TAFE in Western Australia. Teresa has worked in a variety of positions in Children’s Services in England and Australia. She has research interests in the provisions of children’s services in newly industrialising countries, remote Aboriginal communities and children’s experience of migration.
