Description
This module examines behaviour and why behaviour can be different for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and how educators can support children through positive behaviour support strategies.
This module provides an understanding of:
- why behaviour occurs
- how to understand certain behaviour
- some of the differences in development that children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) often experience, and
- how to be pro-active with strategies individualised to the child to support positive behaviour.

Understanding Behaviour: Supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder will contribute 1 hour of NESA Registered PD addressing standard 3.5.2 and 7.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
